BIOL 3235 – The Biology of Insects
An overview of entomology in theory will be provided. Students will be introduced to the diversity of insect groups, basic insect biology, and how entomology has impacted our past and present society.

Spiders of the Southern Appalachians
Highlands Biological Station, Highlands, North Carolina
This course presents a comprehensive introduction to spider systematics, morphology, behavior, physiology, and ecology in daily morning and/or evening lectures and discussions. Afternoons are devoted to fieldwork, with the objective of assembling a significant collection of the extraordinarily rich local spider fauna while studying spider ecology and behavior.
Students can gain course credit at the graduate or undergraduate level through participating universities. At Charlotte, this course transfers as 4-credit BIOL 4000/5000 – Special Topics in Biology through a substitution/waiver. This course will next run July 24 – August 4, 2024.
